that sonoma county deputy mistook for a real one. the santa rosa county democrat said one possible healing action that supervisors may take on tuesday is to create a park baring lopez's name in the neighborhood where he grew up and died. >>> new at 5:00, a man was arrested on the puget sound today after authorities say he stole a ferry. seattle police say the man stole a victoria clipper high speed ferry this morning that traveled between the port of seattle and vancouver british columbia. he locked himself in the pilot house and left the boat drift about 300 yards into elegant bay. police boarded the ferry and arrested the man on grand theft and piracy charges. they are still trying to figure out exactly how he managed to take the ferry in the first place. authorities are advising residents about a mountain lion sighting this morning. the cat was spotted near razorback ridge trail in woodside. that's in the windy hills preserve. residents are being warned not to approach the animals if they see them. those who respond to those sightings, we all need to think twice before they act. a new l

not existent. we have 1.25 mile visibility at half moon bay and 1.75 mile visibility in santa rosa. ten miles for the prosecute of the bay area. the cold front is coming from the pacific northwest where they are expensing 10- to 20-degree drop in temperatures from yesterday, just 24 hours ago through washington and oregon. the cold front comes into san francisco over northern california the next couple of days. by tonight that is where we will expense the chilly temperatures and, also, gusts that come in monday into tuesday and tuesday through thursday are the coolest temperatures. our day planner the next 12 hours, we going to wake up to cooler temperatures in the bay area so dress warmly. by noon, it will ramp up and we will be warmer than we were yesterday. the cold comes right back in the evening hours with the full seven-day forecast in a moment. we have problems on the roads and one is in daly city traveling along 280 if you are headed along in the northbound direction this started out as a stall but it turned and an accident and we do see a little bit of slowing coming and going and c.

. your morning commute will run into some patchy fog. in santa rosa, a chance of brief showers. all of us are going to get this taste of this arctic express, which is blasting down the northern half of the country. we're looking at temperatures during the next couple of days, not so much tomorrow, but by tuesday and wednesday only in the low 50s. very similar to the temperatures we have outside right now. you couple that with the winds 10 to 15 miles per hour, we will have a wind chill factor in the bay area this week. speaking of freezing temperatures, we've had some patchy frost so far this fall, but not like this. temperatures in the valleys by thursday morning in the mid 20s. areas south of san jose will dip below freezing. what's unusual is that we'll be spending from midnight at freezing all the way until just before sunrise in the mid to upper 20s, so we're looking at a few hours staying below freezing. friday morning likely into saturday as well. look at that high temperature from napa. only 49 degrees on thursday. you'll see the change addressed over the next three days. low 50s

, it is 66 degrees in santa rosa. and, there is no way to guarantee this by any means but that 66 degrees that you have right now may not be that warm again for weeks and weeks and weeks. because we got a big chill coming into the bay area. one of the first to be effected will be in santa rose a. the forecasted high is 64. from there, it goes south. right now it is fairly mild for much of the bay area. readings mostly in the 60s and the numbers are going to be a little cooler than that by 8:00 tonight. upper 40s inland, near 50 degrees at the coast of the bay, clear and chilly tonight. not much in the way at all. it will be cool tonight. 38 degrees in santa rose a. 48 degrees in napa. 55 degrees at livermore for an overnight low. 43 in redwood city. now, what is happening is that finally this, this pool of low pressure up here. you have a pool of cool air right up here, showily going to go south. as it sinks south it is very frigid air that is going to work its way into the bay area by midweek. so, you get one more mild bay before the jet sinks far enough south. you know, the jet is the d

colleges were a result of the new deal. sacramento. i gave a talk at santa rosa and the city college in san francisco was largely a product of the pwa and has wonderful art work all over it by the art in action project at the treasure island fair. and then there's these special schools for crippled children. this is in the mission district and it's a beautiful school with all the features we take for granted because of the americans with disabilities act. it has wonderful tiles. this was not accidental. this is the sunshine school. we made the school as beautiful as possible to take the children's minds off their problems. it was also crippled children. this might sound familiar to you if you know the history of president roosevelt. he was paralyzed by polio on the threshold of a promising career. he came back and few americans knew how disabled he was. he learned compassion. he learned he could help other people of different races that he never met before. this is what we used his inheritance for. this lead to the polio vaccine. this is one person who reveres him. suzie. she was born with

at these high temperatures even some 70s to report in morgan hill, livermore. santa rosa maxed out at 78 degrees. the fog will increase in coverage right near the coast pushing back into the bay. some of the forecast models suggesting some more patchy fog heading inland as well. also first thing tomorrow morning during the morning hours this time of the year we had extreme high tides. the water levels coming up with that high tide during the 9:00 hour tomorrow morning. concord at 50, san jose 53. and san francisco last check reporting 56. for tonight we'll go with this. partly cloudy skies, cooling begins for tomorrow. in fact, here's our live camera, beautiful looking out toward san francisco. the plan for tomorrow the forecast, 12:00 57. on track to reach lower 60s by 3:00. then still some more cooling expected by midweek. tuesday, wednesday and into thursday. overnight lows first thing tomorrow morning will be in the 30s for santa rosa, napa, san francisco 47 and livermore forecast low of 40 degrees. as i mentioned the fog regrouping right now and a few patches will head into the bay. patchy

they honored the 58th anniversary of rosa parks refusing to give up her seat on a segregated bus by tweeting today we remember rosa parks' bold stand and her role in ending racism. now, i doubt that the gop was trying to be offensive, but the tweet received so much attention because of the recent unfortunate history between some on the right and race. this year alone, a tea partier waved a confederate flag at the white house. a senate candidate addressed a neo-confederate group. and to this day, sitting members of congress are still accusing the president of being born -- >> the consensus is he has produced a birth certificate. the question is is it legitimate. >> if someone asked for my birth certificate, i would take it out and show it. >> all the president has to do is show it. >> but it's not just what they're saying as ugly as that is, it's the policies they're pursuing. including harsh anti-voting laws. this year alone at least 90 bills have been introduced restricting voting access in 33 states across the country. these are reprehensible efforts to stop people from exercising a basic

. santa rosa 48. here's a look at our highlights. cooler tomorrow with a chance of light showers mainly in the north bay tomorrow. get ready for cold, windy conditions through much of our upcoming work week. those freeze warnings will probably going into effect as we head into wednesday and thursday. overnight lows tonight into the too bad because we do have the high clouds that will be moving in and you can see in the north bay we'll look for temperatures there mid to upper 30s. still chilly in those locations. otherwise we'll look for widespread 40s. here's a look at our water vapor imagery. this is the area of low pressure right here. it's slowly pushing south. as it does so, it will bring that cold blast of air our way. the winds will pick up as well out of the north. i know a lot of people were out putting their holiday l-u6!m u, their santas, their trees, what have you, decorations. you may want to make sure they're secure because these winds will be picking up by tuesday night and wednesday. here's the timing, 7:00 tomorrow morning we're going to look at that cold front starting

. 34, santa rosa. novato, same for fairfield, 38 walnut creek. it will be tough to get above 58, 59. snow, rain is up in seattle and portland. there's not a lot with this. but they are getting of that -- getting some of that. maybe an isolated shower tomorrow. really the cold air is the big story. we'll drop 5, 10 degrees tomorrow for sure as highs go in the upper 30s and 40s. today will be cooler. inland temperatures will struggle to get over 49 degrees as we head to wednesday and thursday. not a lot of rain with this system. we start off with the fog. mostly sunny. wind picks up. some clouds to the north bay. but temperatures, well they will be in the 60s today and then a lot of 50s tomorrow. low to mid-60s here. san rafael, 63. 63 walnut creek, alameda at 60. morgan hill, 66. gilroy will be one of the warmest at 67. 50s if you have the fog. it's -- i know brandon in pacifica -- i think he said 46, 48, damp and cold. the big news, again, will be wednesday, thursday, friday. there is will be lows in the 20s inland. even along the coast, low to mid-30s are possible. widespread freez
